About 2 hours ago we got a new patient. This is a male ferruginous hawk, just like our female one, Layla.

This male came from the same areas all of our Ferruginous come from, the southeastern corner of Utah, the 4-corners area. There was an impact with a vehicle.

He's not happy about being here, but we're sure he's going to appreciate the pain medication we started. Debbie couldn't find any broken bones but he is a little thin, so we may have other issues here, such as illness.

Possibly. I'm not really sure how fast pain meds work in birds.

Heh...They'll probably just say that it depends on the dosage and the size of the bird.
